Fielding is the part of the game that gets the fewest solo practice reps because most fielding drills require a partner or coach to deliver the ball. Pitch-Back Screens and Rebounders A pitch-back screen is the single most useful piece of fielding equipment for solo training. A player throws the ball into the tensioned net at full effort, the net returns the ball at a varied angle and pace depending on where it strikes the surface, and the fielder fields the return. One session with a pitch-back screen can produce 200 to 300 fielding reps in 30 to 45 minutes, which is impossible to replicate with a partner without significant fatigue.
