What are the characteristics of floribunda roses? Floribunda roses are set apart from grandiflora and classic hybrid tea roses due to their abundant flowering properties. Loosely translated from a phrase meaning "many flowering," Floribunda roses are a cross of polylantha roses, a heavily-blooming species of roses, and classic hybrid teas, which are beloved for their elegant shape and sweet-but-not-too-heavy fragrance. Many floribunda roses have an "old-fashioned," full, and ruffled shape, well-recognized among hybrid tea roses and English garden roses. They tend to follow the coloring of hybrid teas, and are available in nearly every color that has been cultivated in hybrid tea roses. Floribundas are the perfect combination of classic shape, major color, light fragrance, and incredible floral yield, with multiple blooms per stem. Do floribunda roses grow tall? Floribundas are one of the shorter rose varieties, growing to a height of three to four feet. Hybrid tea roses are their taller relative, growing to a height of up to six feet tall. Their not-too-tall growing habit lends floribunda roses spectacular credit in the container garden, or among shorter gardens. Although these won't be a wonderful pick for a tall hedge, floribunda bushes fill out beautifully and can definitely serve as a statement piece in the garden. What is the best month to plant roses? The best time to plant roses is in the spring, after any threat of frost has passed. For areas of the deep south, that last frost date will fall in March, while gardeners in the Midwest should wait until around Mother's Day to plant their roses.
