About
St. Andrew was the brother of St. Peter and one of the first disciples called by Jesus. A fisherman by trade, he was martyred by crucifixion on an X-shaped cross, which is now known as St. Andrew's Cross. His role in spreading Christianity and his association with the early Church made him a prominent figure in Christian tradition. Lived : c. 5 - c. 60 | Canonized : Pre-Congregation Patronage : Scotland, Greece, fishermen, and sailors
