St. Francis de Sales was a gentle and wise bishop whose deep spirituality and pastoral zeal helped renew the Church in the wake of the Reformation. Born into nobility in Savoy, he chose the priesthood over worldly honors and became Bishop of Geneva, tirelessly working to bring souls back to the faith through kindness and reason rather than condemnation. His writings, especially Introduction to the Devout Life and Treatise on the Love of God , made holiness accessible to laypeople, teaching that sanctity can be found in everyday life. Known for his patience, humility, and charity, he remains one of the Church’s most beloved spiritual guides.
