About
Coach screws (known in the US as lag screws) are heavy-duty fasteners designed for a wide range of timber-related applications, including to securely fix timber to timber, metal to timber or timber to masonry and concrete. These hard-wearing screws are ideal for holding together heavy loads, like structural timberwork, decking, and fence posts. Unlike standard screws, coach screws have a thick, coarse thread that grips tightly into materials like timber, and are usually made from high-strength materials like steel or stainless steel. These screws can come with protective coatings like hot-dip galvanisation, which improve their corrosion resistance. These screws are available with different head types, too, but are known for their hexagonal heads that allow easier installation with an adjustable spanner or socket.
