The most common colour for traffic cones on UK roads is the traditional orange and white design that we all know and love. However, you may also spot cones in other colour schemes. These were introduced by the UK Highways Agency to highlight specific hazards and traffic regulations on the road. Each colour set has its own specific meaning, applicable to road users and construction area traffic: Green and white cones – These highlight an access point to another lane, and are frequently seen on motorways during roadworks. Blue and white cones – These warning cones show the presence of an overhead structure. They can also be fitted with a yellow warning sleeve to warn of overhead power cables. Yellow and white cones – These show that the area is a no stopping area. They may be used to prevent site vehicles from blocking other traffic on the main highway or for a host of other reasons. As well as cones in various sizes, we stock versions designed to hold chains. These come in various colours and have a slot for attaching a plastic chain to form a safety barrier. Reflective sleeves are also available.
