Courtesy signs, also known as information boards, are used at worksites to communicate key information to road users. Information boards must be displayed at all street and road works sites, except for mobile, short-duration, or minor works that don’t involve excavation. However, they are still highly recommended at these sites when it is safe and practicable to use them. Information boards give the name of the organisation undertaking the works, any principal contractor, and an emergency contact number. Wherever practical, they should also contain other information that will be helpful in explaining to the public why the work is being done, how long it will take, and a message apologising for the inconvenience.
