The RPS sets use the standard Slinky nickel-plated wound low strings combined with reinforced plain strings. The lock twist at the ball end is over-wrapped with bronze wire which greatly reduces the chance of the strings slipping or breaking where it's most common; these strings last longer and stay in tune better than any other plain strings. The length of the string is made with a specially tempered tin-plated high-carbon steel which produces the classic slinky tone.
