About

Our small-flock, free-range Swaledale chickens are raised on independent poultry farms in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Unlike fast-grown commercial chicken, often found on supermarket shelves within 4–6 weeks, our chickens are slow-grown and allowed to mature naturally to 81 days, resulting in exceptional flavour and texture. Reared on established English pastures with a compassionate, traditional farming approach, our free-range chickens deliver premium quality and rich, natural flavours. Perfect for roasting, slow cooking, or midweek meals, our slow-grown poultry embodies the high welfare standards we uphold across all our beef, pork, and lamb. A true taste of traditional farming at its best. Slow-grown chicken benefits from higher fat content and better muscle development, resulting in meat that is naturally moist, tender, and packed with flavour. Whether you’re preparing a classic Sunday roast, making a hearty chicken casserole, or experimenting with vibrant international recipes, Swaledale’s free-range chicken guarantees exceptional results.
