Wild Yorkshire Venison - Sustainably Sourced from the Harewood Estate

About
Located in the heart of game country, our wild venison is sourced exclusively from free-roaming deer on the renowned Harewood Estate in West Yorkshire. These fallow deer roam freely across 4,000 acres of parkland and woodland, naturally foraging year-round on a diverse range of grasses, herbs, and wildflowers. Their diet is enriched by seasonal treats like fruit, nuts, and acorns from the estate's ancient oak trees, especially in autumn. Fallow deer on the Harewood Estate are managed through traditional deer management practices and conservation grazing methods. Despite being estate-reared, the vast expanse on which they roam and graze, with minimal human intervention, classifies them as wild. At Swaledale Butchers, our long-standing relationship with the Harewood Estate ensures consistent access to premium-quality, ethically sourced Yorkshire venison. This partnership is highly valued by both us and our community of restaurant chefs, who prize the exceptional flavour, tenderness, and sustainability of this locally sourced game meat from Yorkshire.
