Tady irons have been catching Southern California yellowtail, tuna, calico bass and white seabass for decades. We carry nine Tady models in two groups: surface irons you cast and wind back through fish feeding on top, and yo-yo irons you drop to fish holding deep and wind back fast. Pick the group by where the fish are, then the model by bait size and conditions. Tady surface irons Tady 45 (about 3 oz, 6¼ in.): the everyday SoCal surface iron for yellowtail on sardine-size bait. Tady 4/0 Light (about 2.6–2.8 oz): a smaller surface iron with a single fixed hook for 30–40 lb line. Tady A1 Light (about 1¾–2 oz): the lightest Tady surface iron, single fixed hook, for calm water. Tady 4/0 Sr. Light (about 3.5–3.7 oz, 6½ in.): the biggest Tady surface iron, for wind and bigger bait. Tady yo-yo irons Tady 4/0 Heavy (about 5.9 oz): the heaviest Tady, for fish holding deep and in current. Tady A2 (about 4–4.3 oz): heavy for its size, gets down faster than the AA. Tady AA (about 3.6 oz): the most versatile Tady yo-yo iron; it also casts and winds. Tady 9 (about 3.5–3.6 oz): a fuller body with a softer flutter on the drop. Tady TLC (about 2.8–3.2 oz, 3½ in.): the most compact Tady, heavy for its size, for small bait and strong current. Frequently asked questions Which Tady iron should I buy first? Start with the Tady 45 for surface-feeding yellowtail, then add an AA or A2 for fish holding below the surface. Is the Tady 4/0 Light the same as the 4/0 Heavy? No. The 4/0 Light and 4/0 Sr. Light are surface irons. The 4/0 Heavy is a 5.9 oz yo-yo iron for fish holding deep. Do Tady irons come with a treble or single hook? The A1 Light and 4/0 Light we carry have a single fixed hook. The other models ship with a treble, and colors labeled Single come with a single hook.
