A modular jack connector is the board-mounted receptacle an Ethernet or telephone plug latches into — an RJ45 (8P8C) or RJ11 (6P6C / 4P4C) housing carrying the contact set, and on integrated types the isolation magnetics as well. TeleWire Technology manufactures 565 of them in Taiwan. Integrated or not — 449 carry the transformer in the shell; 116 leave isolation on the PCB. Speed — 10/100 Base-T through 10G, including 2.5G and 5G over installed Cat5e. Form factor — right-angle, vertical (180°), low-profile, and stacked arrays to 2x8. Power — PoE, PoE+ and PoE++ to IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt. Most parts publish equivalents from Halo, Bel Fuse, Pulse, Würth Elektronik, TE Connectivity and Amphenol, so a second source can be qualified against a footprint already on your board.
