Cabinet Knobs Buying Guide A cabinet knob is a handle that fixes to the door or drawer at one point. This page holds cabinet knobs, drawer knobs and cupboard knobs, in round, square and T shapes, in brass, solid brass, zinc alloy, stainless steel, aluminium, cast iron, timber, leather and ceramic, for kitchen, bathroom, laundry and wardrobe cabinetry. Five decisions settle the order: knob or pull, the size, where it goes, the shape and material, and the fixing. The sections below take them in that order. For handles of every type, start at cabinet handles . What cabinet knobs are called The same piece is sold as a cabinet knob, a drawer knob, a cupboard knob or a kitchen knob, and the name changes only with where it is used. A knob on a drawer is a drawer knob, and a knob on a cupboard door is a cupboard door knob. Three shapes cover most of the range. A round knob is the classic and works on almost any cabinetry, a square knob suits modern and geometric designs, and a T knob is a small bar on a single stem that sits between a knob and a pull. Other forms include dome, oval, plain, fluted and faceted knobs. Door knobs for room doors are a different product, and the door knobs page covers them. Knob or pull The traditional rule is that doors take knobs and drawers take pulls. The main exception is tall pantry, broom closet and appliance doors, which often suit a long pull because of the scale of the door. Many combinations now work: knobs only, pulls only, knobs on doors with pulls on drawers, knobs above the benchtop with pulls below, or knobs on drawers with pulls on cabinets. For cohesion, pair square knobs with squared-off pulls and rounded knobs with rounded pulls. The trade-offs are practical. A knob is simpler to install, because it needs one screw. It suits cabinet doors, smaller spaces and traditional or Shaker kitchens, with a compact, subtle look. Knobs are easy to clean, they keep a small kitchen visually calm, and they work where pulls would look overwhe
