Freestanding Baths Buying Guide A freestanding bath stands clear of the walls and is finished on every side. It can sit under a window or in the middle of the room, and it becomes the centrepiece of the bathroom. This collection includes acrylic, stone and cast solid surface baths from Kaskade, Turner Hastings, Caroma, Decina, Fienza, BelBagno, Otti and ADP, in oval, rectangular, slipper and egg shapes. Is my bathroom big enough for a freestanding bath? Room width matters most. A bathroom under about 2.4m wide usually makes a true freestanding bath hard to fit with comfortable clearance, while a room of 2.8m or more suits one well. Leave enough space to step in and out, to clean around every side and, if you choose a floor-mounted mixer, to fit it beside the bath. Stone baths, such as the Kaskade Alice and Kaskade Naomi, are heavy and solid and hold heat well. Cast solid surface baths, like the Turner Hastings TitanCast and MagnaCast ranges, have a smooth, satin feel and can be repaired if scratched. Heavier baths need a floor that can carry the filled weight, so check with your builder. What shape freestanding bath suits me? Oval baths are the most common and suit most rooms. Slipper baths, such as the Kaskade Naomi, hav
