Clip-on fans clamp straight onto a tent pole and move air around inside the canopy. They are not extraction – they do not remove heat from the room – but they solve a set of problems that extraction alone cannot. What internal air movement actually does Breaks up microclimates. Still air sits in pockets. A humid pocket in a dense canopy at lights-off is where bud rot starts. Strengthens stems. Plants respond to movement by thickening. Indoor plants with no air movement grow tall and weak and then fall over under the weight of their own flowers. Keeps CO2 available. A leaf in still air depletes the CO2 immediately around it and photosynthesis slows. Gentle movement refreshes it. Evens temperature. Stops the hot layer sitting under the light while the floor stays cold. Getting it right Never point it straight at the plants. You want leaves gently rippling, not thrashing. Constant direct blast causes windburn – clawed, taco-shaped leaves people usually misdiagnose as nutrient burn. Aim at a wall or across the canopy so the air circulates rather than hitting one plant. One below the canopy, one above is the usual setup in a 1.2m tent. Below moves air through the lower leaves where humidity gathers; above keeps the hot layer moving. Oscillating beats fixed – the movement is more even and no single plant takes it constantly. Run them constantly , lights on and lights off. Lights-off is when humidity spikes and rot takes hold. How many One in a 60 x 60cm tent, two in a 1.2m, three or four in a 2.4m. They draw very little power, so this is a cheap area to be generous in.
