Fabric pots are breathable grow bags, and they solve a problem plastic pots create. In a solid pot, roots hit the wall and circle. Given long enough they strangle themselves, and the plant stops using what you feed it no matter how good the feed is. Air pruning Fabric lets air reach the root tips at the edge of the pot. Exposed to air, the tip stops growing – and the plant responds by branching further back instead. Rather than one long circling root, you get a dense fibrous mass filling the whole volume. More root surface means more uptake, which is why the same plant in the same medium performs better in fabric. The trade-offs, honestly They dry out faster.
