About

Herradura is the tequila with the horseshoe on the label, made at the same hacienda in Amatitán, Jalisco since 1870. It's the producer that created the reposado category in 1974, which is a real claim rather than a marketing one, and it's still one of the more traditionally made tequilas you can buy at this price. The core lineup runs $39.99 to $49.99 for a 750ml, which puts the whole range under $50. Four of the five bottles we carry are in stock. We ship to most states, with an adult 21 or older required to sign at delivery. The Herradura Lineup Silver , $39.99. Technically a blanco , but rested 45 days in American white oak rather than bottled straight off the still. That short rest is why it drinks rounder and less sharp than most silvers, with cooked agave and pepper still clearly there. Reposado , $46.99. Eleven months in oak, against a legal minimum of two. This is the bottle the brand is known for and the one most people should start with. Vanilla and butter over the agave, with more color than a typical reposado . Añejo , $49.99. Twenty-five months, which is at the long end of the añejo window. Dried fruit and toasted oak, and the agave is still present rather than buried. Good value for what it is. Ultra Añejo , $49.99. Aged and then charcoal filtered to strip the color out, so it pours clear and drinks like a lighter añejo. That makes it a cristalino , and whether you like the style depends on whether you want the oak flavor without the oak weight. Currently the same price as the standard añejo, which makes it easy to try. Legend. An añejo matured 14 months in heavily charred, deeply grooved barrels, which pushes it darker and sweeter than the rest of the range. Currently out of stock. What Makes Herradura Different Two things, and neither is the horseshoe. The first is fermentation. Herradura ferments with wild airborne yeast rather than a cultured strain, which is slower and less predictable and is part of why the tequila tastes the way it does. Most pr
