A tank alone cannot guarantee clean water; without proper filtration, organic matter like leaves, moss, and bird droppings will enter the tank, leading to sludge buildup, foul odors, and potential damage to pumps and internal plumbing. The Three Pillars of Rainwater Quality Each of our filter kits is built around a specialized three-step cleaning process that ensures the highest possible water quality: The Filter Unit: Rainwater is first passed through a stainless steel mesh or a removable basket filter. This removes the bulk of the debris—leaves, twigs, and moss—before the water ever enters the tank. The Calmed Inlet: Once filtered, the water is fed to the bottom of the tank through a calmed inlet. This ensures that incoming water enters smoothly without disturbing any fine sediment that has naturally settled on the floor of the tank. It also helps oxygenate the lower layers of water, keeping it fresh. The Overflow Siphon: When the tank reaches capacity, the excess water exits through an overflow siphon. This component is designed with a "skimming" effect to remove any floating particles (like pollen) from the surface of the water, while the U-bend trap prevents rodents and odors from entering the tank.
