A failed EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) cooler is a known failure mode on the 6.7 Powerstroke and 6.7 Cummins, dumping coolant straight into the intake and showing up as overheating. An EGR delete kit removes that cooler from the coolant circuit entirely, so that specific failure point is gone for good a different reason to delete than carbon buildup, but the same hardware handles it. Picking the right kit comes down to two facts about your truck: engine and model year. Ford's lineup covers the 2008-2010 6.4L Powerstroke plus the 6.7L Powerstroke across four year-specific kits (2011-2014, 2015-2016, 2017-2019, 2020-2025) and a universal pass-through design spanning the full 2011-2025 run. Ram's 6.7 Cummins splits into two kits, 2007.5-2009 and 2010-2024. GM Duramax runs five separate kits, one per generation from the LLY through the L5P. The 3.0L EcoDiesel, Ford's smaller 3.0L Powerstroke, and the Nissan Titan 5.0 Cummins each get their own kit too the Titan's bundles a down-pipe delete alongside the EGR work. What's in the box is EGR hardware only: a block-off plate and the coolant fittings needed to keep the cooling circuit sealed. None of it touches DEF or SCR those are separate aftertreatment systems an EGR delete doesn't reach. What's not in the box is a tune. Every kit here needs one to keep the ECM from throwing codes once EGR flow reads zero, and that's a separate purchase on top of the kit price. Most kits run $299 to $349 depending on platform; the Titan's combined EGR-and-down-pipe kit is $699.
