Samsung Brand 1938 Samsung was founded as a grocery trading store on March 1, by Lee Byung-Chull. 1969 Samsung first entered the electronics industry with several electronics-focused divisions. 2010 Samsung Electronics Co. bought a South Korean medical-equipment company, the first step in a long-discussed plan to diversify from consumer electronics. 2014 Samsung Electronics acquired SmartThings and made it a part of the Samsung Open Innovation Center (OIC). 2015 Samsung has been granted more U.S. patents so far this year than any other company — including IBM, Google, Sony, Microsoft and Apple. 2018 Samsung inaugurated the World’s Largest Mobile Factory in Noida with the vision to make India a global manufacturing hub.
