An Artist's Legacy

For over two decades, unfinished treasures lay in our archives, waiting to be realized. Exquisite illustrations created for us by one of Banaras' foremost textile designers and artists, Late Padma Shri Jadunath Supakar. Years later, these artworks have finally been brought to life through the efforts of several hands, including those of his son, Padma Shri Sribhas Chandra Supakar, a team of textile designers, graphers, master weavers and craftsmen at Tilfi. Each hand picked up where Jadunath Supakar left off, recreating the motifs, filling in the gaps, translating patterns to textiles, till all the elements sang harmoniously. An artist's legacy is not bound by time, it is a living thing which nourishes those that come after.
