About
Shop ground cover plants that carpet bare soil, crowd out weeds and hold slopes in place, from flowering creeping phlox for sun to evergreen partridgeberry and wild ginger for shade. Grown on our Tennessee farm since 1959 and shipped nationwide, with most plants just $7.99. What Are Ground Cover Plants? Ground cover plants are low, spreading plants that grow into a dense mat over the soil. They fill the spots where grass struggles, such as deep shade under trees, steep banks, and narrow strips along paths, and once they knit together, they shade out weeds, hold soil in place, and keep moisture in the ground. Most of the ground covers we grow stay under 12 inches tall and spread by runners, rhizomes or self-sown seed.
