Perennial Plants

About

Perennials are plants that come back every year from the same roots, so you plant them once and enjoy them for many seasons. We grow over 100 native perennial plants and flowers at our Tennessee nursery, family owned since 1959, and ship them bare root nationwide. Shop sun-loving coneflowers and black-eyed Susans, woodland wildflowers for shade, pollinator plants for monarchs and hummingbirds, and money-saving perennial packages. What are perennial plants? A perennial is any plant that lives three years or more. Most garden perennials grow and bloom through spring and summer, die back to the ground in fall, then rest underground through winter and return in spring. Annuals, by contrast, grow, bloom and die in a single season and must be replanted every year. That makes perennials the backbone of a low-maintenance garden: the plants get bigger and bloom more heavily each year, and many can be divided to fill new beds for free.
