About

Climbing Frames A climbing frame gives your child something built for climbing, instead of the couch or the kitchen bench. You'll find toddler frames, bigger frames for school age kids, climbing domes, and frames with a slide or swing attached. Everything's sorted by age so you can jump straight to what fits your child. Climbing frames by age Kids climbing frames in Australia usually split into three age brackets. A frame built for one age isn't right for the next one down. 2 to 3 years: low platforms, wide rungs, easy grips. Often indoor-friendly. 3 to 5 years: a bit more height, more hand and foot holds, small slides and short climbing walls. 6 to 8 years : taller frames, monkey bar attachments, ropes and ninja-style extras. A frame built for a 6 year old isn't right for a 2 year old. The rungs are too far apart and the drop's too high. Use the Shop by Age filter (0 to 3, 3 to 5, 6 to 8) to skip past anything that's the wrong stage for your kid. Toddler and younger climbing frames Toddler climbing frames sit low to the ground, with wide rungs, chunky grips and platforms your two year old can step onto without stretching. Plenty are indoor-friendly, which helps in a wet week or a small yard. If your child's still finding their feet and not quite ready to climb, infant and preschool toys are the better starting point. Come back to a toddler frame once they're steady on their feet and pulling themselves up on the furniture with confidence. How high is safe for your child There's a difference between reaching high and falling from high. Kids can reach further than you'd think, but platform height is what matters if they slip. As a rough guide, keep platforms under about 0.9m for 2 to 3 year olds, under about 1.2m for 3 to 5 year olds, and up to around 1.5m to 1.8m for 6 to 8 year olds. Stay within arm's reach of toddlers, and stay in the yard for the 3 to 5s. If your child is small for their age or new to climbing, size down. You can always upgrade later. Timber or me
