Monkey Bars

About

Monkey Bars Monkey bars are the natural next step once your child has outgrown a toddler climbing frame and wants something to hang from, swing on, and build proper grip strength. This collection covers freestanding sets, bolt-on modules and accessories, sorted for kids roughly 5 to 10. What age are monkey bars for? Most kids are ready somewhere between 5 and 10, but age isn't really the signal. Grip strength is. If your child can hang from a bar on their own for a few seconds and pull some of their weight up, they're ready. If they can't yet, a climbing frame is still the better pick for another six to twelve months. Use the Shop by Age filter to narrow the range to your child's stage. Height and what goes underneath Kids' monkey bar sets usually sit around head height for an adult. That means a fall is real, and worth planning for. Leave clear space around the whole frame so there's nothing hard within falling distance. What goes underneath matters more than the bars themselves. Soft fall bark, rubber matting or thick, established grass will all take a knock. Concrete, pavers, tiles and hard compacted dirt won't. If the only spot in your yard is a hard surface, sort the ground cover before the frame goes up, not after. Freestanding set or add-on module? Got open backyard space and no existing play gear? A freestanding monkey bar set is the simpler option. It stands on its own, anchors into the ground, and gives you a clear run of bars. Already own a play centre or climbing frame with a compatible deck? A bolt-on monkey bar module is usually cheaper and tidier. Check the height and spacing of your existing frame first. Modules are made to match specific systems, so browse play centres that accept modules if you're building out a full set-up. Monkey bar accessories and add-ons This is where most parents come back to us. Once the bars are up and your child is confident, add-ons keep the frame interesting for years.
