About
Flat towing a car behind a motorhome takes a full system, not just a tow bar. You need a baseplate on the towed vehicle, the tow bar, safety cables, a lighting link, and a supplemental braking system, which most states require by law. Tow bar capacity is matched to the towed vehicle's curb weight rather than the coach. Blue Ox, Demco, and Roadmaster cover ratings from 6,000 to 15,000 lbs, including all-terrain designs that stay clear of uneven ground. Braking is the other decision. Air-actuated systems tap the coach's air brakes and suit Freightliner and Spartan chassis, while proportional and wireless controllers work across a broader range of coaches. We also carry B&W ball mounts in drops from 3 to 9 inches, along with drop receivers, electric and hydraulic trailer brake assemblies, tail light wiring kits, and adapter plugs.
