Choosing the Right Recovery Winch Winch selection should be based on your specific vehicle, its loaded operating weight, the mounting system and the recovery conditions you expect to encounter. Rated line pull is measured under defined conditions and is highest on the first layer of rope on the drum, so a single capacity figure should not be treated as a universal fitment rule.
