Tennis Court Lighting

About

Tennis courts are almost always lit from poles set outside the playing surface, with fixtures aimed across the court rather than down the line of play. That keeps light out of players' eyes during serves and overheads, which matters more in tennis than in most sports because so much of the game is played looking up. A regulation court measures 78 by 36 feet for doubles, and most installations use four to eight poles depending on the level of play and whether the court is used for competition.
