About

Planting asparagus crowns is a speedier option than planting from seed, but you should still not expect a harvest from the first year. Each crown is composed of a central group of stems surrounded by dangling, finger-like roots. Plant asparagus crowns in rich soil, covered by 5-8cm (2-3") of soil. Plant them four weeks before your last average frost date. This variety will grow 150cm (59") tall, with a spread of 45cm (18"), so space them with room to grow out from the centre. Leave the plants to develop and grow strong during the first year. Pre-orders now for expected spring shipping. Read our Seasonal Shipping FAQs here .
