About

Create a butterfly garden that supports butterflies through their entire life cycle : eggs, larvae, pupae and adult butterflies. While caterpillars need host plants which they will eat, adult butterflies need nectar sources to use as food a s well as host plants to lay their eggs. Most butterflies will eat from a variety of nectar sources, whereas some caterpillars like M onarchs need a particular host plant like Milkweed to use as forage. Choosing the variety native to your region will be the most beneficial to your local pollinators: Swamp Milkweed (prairies and Eastern Canada), Butterfly Weed (QC and ON) or Showy Milkweed (prairies and BC).
