Seamed Tights: Vintage Style, Modern Ease Our seamed tights give you the unmistakable line of vintage hosiery with the ease and stretch of modern tights. There is no suspender belt to arrange and no clips to fasten, making them an excellent introduction to retro legwear as well as a practical choice for days when stockings feel like rather too much organisation. Strictly speaking, tights are not completely period correct for a 1940s or early 1950s outfit. Women generally wore seamed stockings with a girdle or suspender belt, and stockings remain the most authentic option for historical dressing. Seamed tights recreate the look in a more convenient form, making them particularly useful for the Goodwood Revival , vintage events, stage and screen, or simply adding a beautifully defined back seam to an otherwise modern outfit. Our classic sheer styles are made in Italy from a silky 15 denier nylon and elastane blend, similar to our Glamour Seamed Stockings . The stretch gives them a smooth fit and makes them easier to wear than traditional non-stretch nylons. The collection includes classic black back seam tights , discreet Champagne with Latte seams, sharply contrasting Champagne with Black, and rather more noticeable Champagne with Red. You will also find polka dots, seamed fishnets and glossy opaque tights for occasions when subtlety has been abandoned altogether. Our Champagne with Latte seam tights are particularly popular with film and television costume departments because the softly contrasting seam shows clearly under studio lighting without looking too stark. Black and Champagne with Black create a stronger line, while the red seam brings a little more drama to proceedings. Our seamed tights fit slightly smaller than their Glamour Stocking sisters.
