Gun metal is a superior finishes - essentially highly polished cast bronze which has a beautiful warm pinky hue. Unlacquered, it will dull down over time turning a deep brown if left unpolished for many years. Alternatively you can maintain the shine with some brass polish and elbow grease once in a while.
