A. Smith Bowman Distillery is one of Virginia's oldest and most storied distilleries, founded in 1934 in Fredericksburg. The distillery is known for its flagship Virginia Gentleman Bourbon and for producing the distillate that becomes the legendary George T. Stagg and Eagle Rare at Buffalo Trace — the new make is shipped from Bowman to Buffalo Trace for aging. Bowman also produces single barrel and cask strength releases under the Abraham Bowman and John J. Bowman labels that are highly regarded by collectors.
