Measure your bench height before selecting — too much difference either way makes eating uncomfortable. Adjustable-height gas-lift stools offer flexibility across different bench heights and suit households where a stool needs to work in multiple locations. The adjustment range is typically 200-250mm, covering most counter and bar-height applications. The trade-off is slightly less visual sleekness compared to fixed-height stools, and the mechanism adds maintenance over time. Swivel stools make getting on and off easier at higher bench heights and allow you to turn to join a conversation in the adjacent living space without getting off entirely — a practical benefit in open-plan homes.
