Bedroom storage is one of those functional needs that's easy to underestimate during a furniture purchase and increasingly frustrating to live with once you move in. A wardrobe handles hanging clothes; a dresser handles everything folded — and in most Australian bedrooms, that's a substantial proportion of what a household wears day to day. Our dresser and chest of drawers range is designed around real storage needs. A 4-drawer chest at 80cm wide suits a child's bedroom or a spare room where storage demands are lighter. A 5 or 6-drawer dresser at 100-120cm provides enough capacity for a couple's shared bedroom without requiring a second unit. Wide, low dressers with fewer but deeper drawers suit smaller bedrooms where vertical space is limited but floor area allows a wider footprint. Drawer runners make a significant difference to the experience of using a dresser every day. Cheap units with plastic runners become sticky and frustrating over time. Our range uses ball-bearing or soft-close runners across most models, which open and close smoothly regardless of how full the drawers are and don't slam when pushed shut. Material and finish choice is largely aesthetic, but there are some practical considerations. Solid timber dressers are more durable and repair-friendly than MDF but heavier and typically more expensive. MDF with a quality laminate or paint finish handles Australian humidity well in most environments. Avoid very cheap particle board construction in coastal Queensland or Northern Territory climates where humidity levels are extreme. White and off-white remain the most popular dresser finishes in Australian bedrooms because they work with nearly any colour
