Bowl fire pits are the most common design — simple, versatile and available in a wide range of sizes. Chimineas are enclosed at the back, directing smoke upward more efficiently and providing protection from wind, which suits more exposed outdoor settings. Gas fire pits and fire tables run on natural gas (with a plumbed connection) or LPG bottles, providing immediate, controllable flame without the preparation and ash management of wood burning. The visual experience is different — gas flames are consistent and even, lacking the variation and organic movement of a wood fire — but the convenience is substantial. Gas fire tables combine the fire with a functional tabletop surface for drinks and plates. Corten steel fire pits develop a characteristic rust-red patina with weathering — a deliberate, controlled oxidation that seals the surface against further corrosion.
