About
A good garden hose makes watering the garden a task rather than a chore. Our range covers standard and expandable hoses in various lengths, with reel systems, spray guns and complete watering kits — suited to Australian garden sizes from compact courtyards through to large suburban backyards. Garden watering in Australia operates under constraints that don't exist in most other countries: water restrictions during drought periods, high evaporation rates in summer, and significant variation in seasonal watering needs. A quality hose and appropriate attachments make it practical to water efficiently and in compliance with local restrictions. Expandable hoses have become one of the most popular hose formats in Australia over the past decade. They contract to approximately 30% of their extended length when empty, making storage dramatically easier than a conventional coiled hose. When water flows through them, internal pressure expands them to full working length. Quality expandable hoses use a double-layer fabric outer casing and a latex or TPC inner tube — the inner tube quality is what determines longevity, with higher-quality latex cores significantly outlasting cheaper alternatives. Standard rubber and reinforced PVC hoses remain practical for heavy-duty use — particularly for gardeners who move hoses frequently, work with abrasive surfaces or need to withstand UV exposure in positions where the hose isn't stored away between uses. A standard hose with a quality brass fittings will outlast most expandable hoses if given reasonable care. Hose lengths should be chosen based on the longest distance from your tap to any watering point, plus a few extra metres of comfortable working slack. Common Australian garden sizes suit 15-20m hoses; larger properties benefit from 30m. Spray guns with adjustable patterns — from a jet for spot watering to a fine mist for seedlings — are more water-efficient than a standard nozzle and make different watering tasks possible with a sin
