About
An outdoor lounge setting transforms a backyard or patio from a space you walk through into a space you spend time in. Our range of outdoor sofas, day beds, lounge chairs and complete lounge sets is built for Australian outdoor conditions — UV-resistant, weather-tolerant and comfortable enough to actually use. The backyard is the most under-used room in most Australian homes. The climate, particularly in Melbourne and southern states, makes it genuinely usable for 9-10 months of the year with appropriate furniture — yet most backyards contain at best a set of plastic chairs dragged out for summer gatherings. A proper outdoor lounge setting changes this calculus entirely. Our outdoor lounge sets combine sofas, armchairs and coffee tables in arrangements designed for relaxed outdoor use. The most popular configurations are L-shaped setups for corners of patios or decks — these define the outdoor space as a room with a clear arrangement, facing inward toward a coffee table. Straight sofa-and-chairs configurations work better in rectangular patio spaces. Frame material is the primary durability consideration. Powder-coated aluminium is our recommended base for Australian conditions — it's rust-proof, handles UV without degradation and stays light enough to rearrange without difficulty. Woven synthetic wicker over aluminium offers a more traditional outdoor lounge aesthetic and performs well in Australian conditions, far outlasting natural rattan which degrades rapidly in UV and rain exposure. Cushion quality separates good outdoor lounge furniture from great. Quick-dry foam cores surrounded by UV-resistant fabric covers dry within hours of a summer storm rather than staying soggy for days. The fabric should have a UV rating appropriate for outdoor use — look for fabrics described as Sunbrella or equivalent UV-resistant weaves. Modular outdoor sets — where individual pieces can be configured and reconfigured — suit Australian backyards where the entertaining arrangements
