In-ground pools are the premium choice, but above-ground pools offer a large proportion of the summer benefit at a small fraction of the cost. Steel-frame above-ground pools use a structural tube frame to support the pool walls and liner, allowing larger surface areas and greater depths than inflatable pools at the same price point. A quality steel-frame pool of 4-5m diameter provides a genuine swimming experience for children and casual adult use. The liner quality is the key variable — a thicker PVC liner with UV treatment provides significantly better durability than thin alternatives. Inflatable above-ground pools use air-inflated ring structures to hold the pool wall in position as the water fills. They're the simplest to set up — some can be deployed in under 30 minutes — and compact to store when deflated. The practical limitation is depth, which is typically constrained to 75-100cm in most inflatable designs. A pool without filtration becomes a maintenance problem quickly. Our pool packages include a pump-filter combination that maintains water clarity by continuously cycling and filtering pool water. The pump size should match the pool volume — undersized pumps can't turn the water volume over often enough to maintain clarity, particularly in summer heat. Site preparation makes a significant difference to above-ground pool experience. A level surface is essential — even
