Proteases, also known as proteolytic enzymes, are enzymes that degrade proteins into smaller polypeptides or amino acids. These enzymes are utilized to develop pro-forms of antibody and protein therapeutics, which are designed to activate only within diseased tissues. Additionally, proteases play a key role in characterizing antibodies, Fc fusion proteins, and antibody-drug conjugates.
