Fuses, capacitors and wire, the repair and upgrade hub for retro-console recap work and general electronics at ZedLabz. Browse repair parts by category Electronic components , broader components hub Component multi-packs , assortment kits Hookup wire , silicone and PVC wire by gauge PCB trace repair , broken-trace fixes Old retro consoles eventually need their electrolytic capacitors replaced, the original 1990s caps dry out, leak, and cause distorted audio, dim screens or boot failures. We stock recap-friendly capacitor selections plus glass-tube and ceramic fuses for replacing blown protection circuits, and stranded hookup wire for board-level repair work. Suitable for PS1, N64, Sega Saturn and Game Boy capacitor refresh jobs as well as general electronics fault-finding. Quick picks by repair type Easy entry point: a small electrolytic capacitor assortment plus a multimeter, for testing and replacing one-off failed caps on retro boards. The crowd favorite: a console-specific recap kit (PS1, N64, Saturn), the values are pre-sized for the board, so you don't have to spec individually. The pro choice: polymer capacitors for replacing electrolytics where space and longevity both matter, plus a desoldering setup for clean removal. What recap and fuse work looks like in practice Identify the failing part : bulged or leaking electrolytic caps are visible. Fuses fail open, a multimeter in continuity mode confirms. Match the value and rating : capacitors must match capacitance (in μF) and voltage (V) at minimum; sometimes ESR (equivalent series resistance) matters for power supplies. Fuses must match current rating and type (fast-blow / slow-blow). Desolder cleanly : most through-hole electrolytic caps come out with a desoldering pump or solder wick once the leg solder melts. SMD electrolytics need hot air or a careful drag-solder removal. Solder in the replacement : observe polarity on electrolytic capacitors (the negative leg has a stripe on the body). Shipped worldwide
