A Renaissance of Traditional Speyside Benromach is a distillery that looks to the past to define the future. While many modern Speyside whiskies have evolved toward a lighter, unpeated profile, Benromach remains dedicated to the "classic" style of the region as it existed before the 1960s. This means producing a rich, multi-layered spirit with a subtle, delicate hint of smoke . Owned by the renowned independent bottlers Gordon & MacPhail since 1993, the distillery was meticulously restored and reopened in 1998 with a singular mission: to create genuine character through time-honored, manual techniques. The Art of Handcrafted Whisky At Benromach, there are no computers. Every part of the process is managed by a small team of distillers who rely on their senses—sight, sound, and smell—to guide the production: The Process: From the four-day fermentations in larch washbacks to the slow distillation in small copper pot stills, every step is designed to maximize flavor and texture. First-Fill Casks: Benromach is famously committed to using only first-fill casks (Bourbon and Sherry). This ensures that the wood's influence is potent, matching the robust, slightly peaty spirit. The "Peaty Paradox": Unlike the medicinal peat of Islay, Benromach uses malted barley with a light touch of smoke (around 8–10 ppm), creating a unique bridge between the fruity elegance of Speyside and a rugged, old-world intensity. Our Curated Benromach Selection Our collection showcases the signature range alongside innovative experimental releases: Benromach 10 Year Old: The flagship expression. Matured in first-fill Bourbon and Sherry casks, it offers a perfect balance of forest fruits, creamy malt, and a wisp of smoke. Benromach 15 Year Old: A more mature and complex dram, featuring notes of dark chocolate, cracked black pepper, and rich Seville orange. Benromach 21 Year Old: A permanent addition to the core range, offering deep, sophisticated layers of ginger, orange zest, and mellow smoke.
