About

Spanning a breathtaking 2,000 hectares in the northwest quadrant of Montalcino, Castiglion del Bosco is one of the most historic, sprawling, and culturally significant estates in all of Tuscany. With roots anchoring back to an 11th-century medieval castle and village, this historic property was a founding member of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino in 1967. The estate experienced a magnificent modern renaissance when it was acquired by Massimo Ferragamo . Under his visionary stewardship, the property’s historic cellars and ancient vineyards were thoroughly revitalized, propelling Castiglion del Bosco into the absolute elite stratosphere of Italian fine wine. Today, the estate perfectly balances world-class hospitality and luxury with a deep, uncompromising respect for the wild, untamed bio-diversity of its ancient agricultural landscape. High-Altitude Wilds & Certified Organic Viticulture What defines the singular flavor profile of Castiglion del Bosco is its isolating geography and extreme variation in micro-terroirs. The estate features 62 hectares of meticulously managed vineyards divided into two distinct, prime locations: Capanna Vineyard: Facing south-southwest at elevations reaching up to 450 meters, this sun-drenched vineyard sits on ancient, rock-strewn Galestro (schistous clay) and shale soils. It yields wines of towering structure, deep black fruit concentration, and remarkable longevity. Gauggiole Vineyard: Facing north-northeast on lower-lying rolling hills, these sandy-clay soils yield a completely different expression—softer, fruit-forward, highly aromatic, and packed with bright red fruit energy. 100% Certified Organic: Fully certified organic since 2016, the estate practices low-intervention viticulture that strictly prohibits synthetic treatments. This meticulous care protects the natural ecosystem, allowing the pure voice of the Sangiovese grape to echo beautifully in every glass. The Illustrious Portfolio: From Daily Pleasures to
