About
Terroir & Winemaking Style Positioned on a gravel ridge overlooking the Gironde estuary, Clerc Milon’s 41 hectares benefit from warm microclimates and gravel-sandy soils over a limestone base. Diverse Grape Varieties: The estate features an unusually high proportion of Cabernet Franc and Carmenère alongside its core of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This vine diversity adds complex layers of spice, graphite, and cedar to the wine's profile. Modern Precision: Vinification takes place in a gravity-fed, custom-built vat house, allowing parcel-by-parcel processing. The Grand Vin is aged in approximately 50% new French oak for up to 18 months to achieve structural balance. Aromatic Character: Classic Clerc Milon exhibits dark cherry, blackcurrant, roasted coffee bean, and subtle herbal aromatics, supported by firm, age-worthy tannins. Labels Featured in Our Collection Château Clerc Milon (Grand Vin): The estate’s flagship Fifth Growth release. Built with the concentration and acidity required to cellar for 10 to 25+ years, evolving complex savory notes with bottle age. Pastourelle de Clerc Milon: The official second wine of the estate, introduced with the 2009 vintage. Made primarily from younger vines, it offers an approachable, fruit-forward profile suited for earlier drinking within 3 to 10 years of release. Key Vintages for Buyers & Cellars Highly regarded vintages for Château Clerc Milon include 2009, 2010, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022 —releases recognized by global critics for their density, structural precision, and aging capability.
