Terroir & Winemaking Shared with Lafite Located on the west side of Château Lafite Rothschild, Duhart-Milon’s 76 hectares of vineyards benefit directly from the winemaking expertise and vineyard management of the Rothschild team: Pauillac Gravel & Limestone: Soils consist of fine gravel mixed with aeolian sand on a bed of tertiary limestone, providing excellent natural drainage and mineral depth to the vines. Traditional Blend Profile: The vineyard is planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon (67%) and Merlot (33%). The final Grand Vin blend typically features a dominant proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, giving the wine its classic Pauillac backbone. Rothschild Winemaking Standards: Managed by the same viticultural and winemaking teams as Lafite Rothschild, the wines undergo careful parcel-by-parcel fermentation in stainless steel and concrete tanks before aging for 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels (approx. 50% new oak, crafted at Lafite's own cooperage). Flavor Profile: Characterized by dark currant, cedar wood, pencil lead, leather, and tobacco leaf, with a firm yet elegant tannic structure that matures beautifully over time. Labels Featured in Our Collection Château Duhart-Milon (Grand Vin): The estate’s primary Fourth Growth bottling. Known for its austere, classic Pauillac character in its youth, it softens into a complex, harmonious wine after 7 to 10 years in the cellar, with potential to age for 20+ years. Moulin de Duhart: The estate’s official second wine, sourced from younger vines and selected parcels. It offers a softer, more fruit-forward expression of the terroir that is approachable earlier (drinking window: 3 to 10 years).
