The fuse protects the cable, not the appliance. Which is why the rating follows the wire size and the run length rather than whatever the fridge draws. MIDI and ANL for battery and inverter leads, MEGA for the big stuff, standard and micro blade for accessory circuits, with the holders and busbar-mount blocks to suit. Put it at the source, and carry spares. A fuse belongs within 300mm of the battery terminal it protects, because the length of unfused cable is the part that can catch. Inline MC4 fuses are here for solar strings, where the fusing sits out on the roof rather than under the bonnet.
