While sailing craft have always been a part of CLC's stable of designs, it took us a while to find quality small boat sails at affordable prices. We have developed sails for CLC boats that are beautifully crafted of Dacron and have precise three-dimensional shapes for maximum performance, both upwind and down. Our sails are designed and manufactured by Douglas Fowler Sailmaker to the highest standards in both materials and construction using first quality Dacron material from Contender Sailcloth. Sails under 75 sq. ft. are made with 4.0 oz cloth, while larger sails are constructed using 4.4 or 5.4 oz., depending on the sail's size. Contender's white Dacron sailcloth is made in the USA. Egyptian Cream and Tanbark cloth is manufactured in Germany. All sails are crosscut, employing full seam curves to create a proper and efficient draft. All appropriate edges, luffs, yards, and foots have sewn-in boltrope using pre-shrunk three-strand Dacron rope. (Loose foots and leeches are not bolt-roped.) Sails are equipped with ample reinforcement patches to meet any wind condition. Attachment hardware meets or exceeds industry standards, using nickel-plated brass spur-toothed grommets from Stimpson Co., Inc. on smaller sails and stainless steel Rutgerson Super Rings on larger ones. Reef points and other custom changes can be accommodated for an additional charge. For a great shape and years of service, you can depend on our sails!
