Wet salt sand is the hardest ground most detectorists ever swing over. Salt reads as a target to a single-frequency machine, which is why beach hunters lean on simultaneous multi-frequency detectors like the Minelab Manticore and Equinox 900, or a pulse induction machine such as the Garrett ATX when the black sand gets deep. Anything you take below the high-tide line needs a sealed control box, not just a waterproof coil. Pair it with a long-handled scoop. Digging wet sand by hand gets old inside an hour.
