Why Use The Two (Or Three) Bucket Method? Washing straight from one bucket means every dip of your mitt picks up the dirt you just washed off, then drags it straight back across the paintwork. That's how swirl marks happen, even with careful technique. Separating wash water from rinse water — and wheel water, if you're using a third bucket — stops that cycle: Rinse your mitt in clean water before reloading it with shampoo Keep wheel and tyre grime completely separate from paintwork water Use a Grit Guard in each bucket to trap grit at the bottom, away from your mitt Reduce the risk of fine scratches building up over repeated washes --- Which Bucket Set-Up Do I Need? Two buckets — one for shampoo, one for rinsing. The minimum safe set-up for a swirl-free wash. Three buckets — adds a dedicated wheel bucket, so brake dust and grit never come near your wash or rinse water. Grit Guard — fits inside any bucket and traps dirt at the bottom, stopping it from being picked back up on your mitt. Gamma Seal Bucket Lid — turns a bucket into secure, spill-proof storage for pre-mixed solutions between washes.
