Types of Well Tanks There are three main categories of tanks in our lineup, each designed for a different use case: Steel Diaphragm Pressure Tanks (Amtrol Well-X-Trol) The classic captive-air pressure tank. Inside the high strength steel shell, a flexible diaphragm separates the water from a sealed, factory pre-charged air cushion. When your pump fills the tank, the air compresses; when you open a faucet, the compressed air pushes water out. Amtrol invented this design and Pro Series tanks carry a 7 year limited warranty.
